Ohio’s fall festival season is in full swing. The Oak Harbor Apple Festival marked its 36th year in 2014, and was hosted by the Oak Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce. Held on October 11 and 12, the festival welcomed more than 25,000 visitors in a one block area, and admission to the festival is always free.
Friday, October 10 featured the Festival’s baking contest, and the full festivities kicked off on Saturday, October 11 with the crowning of the Royalty Court, followed by cutest baby contests and the Grand Parade. Saturday held a talent show, a kids’ tractor pull, and bingo. After the sun went down, festival-goers gathered around for ‘Applepalooza,’ which featured live music and a beer tent.
The festival continued on Sunday with the annual Apple Run 5K, as well as the Kids’ One Mile Run. Sunday also included the Apple Festival’s annual Car Show in the Oak Harbor High School parking lot. Throughout the day passersby enjoyed the sights and sounds of local performers. For more information on the Oak Harbor Apple Festival, please visit their website.
